The Hunt

Well Before i started to this Project I Had No Idea Of Engines Etc .I Had just seen the same in our fields and homes but i was interested .I started searching for some shop that sells generators in mohali my home town and found out a person Called Mr Amrik singh [ Prop Malwa Generators ] Selling generators in mohali .When i approached them i Asked him for a Less Noisy And Fuel Efficiant Generator .Sardar Amrik singh Suggested That i Take a Normal Petter Type Engine First For Approx Rs :32000/- and He will Install two Silencers In the Same [ This Jerk Does Not even Know That If The Exhaust Is Choked It Has a Adverse Effect On The Engine ] .Anyways Then He Tells Me That a Lister Type Slow Speed engine thats Drives a Alternator With Pulley Would Be Great And Would Cost Me Rs :40000/- .Well i Though i will Buy This .

 

The Customer Expereience

I Gave Him Rs :20000/- In Jan End 2010 .For Another 1 Month Plus He did Not Deliver Me The system .When i Went To His Workshop i Was Shocked To Find That He Had a Old Engine That He Was Refurbing .Damn i Asked Him What The Hell is This ,He Replied That He Has changed every part in this engine and only the shell is old .Well i though This Is OK i settled down .After He Made the system The Same Also Had a Old Radiator Mounted In The Frame of The Engine/alternator .For 15 Days He Could Not Arrange a Fan In The Same .When He Use To Run the engine In His Shop It Used to vibrate Extensively ,That time i Had No Idea As To How To Balance The engine.I Questioned Him Regarding that And His Reply Was that when i Mount It With Screws At My House Backyard It will Behave Properly .Anyways I though Its OK [ Poor Me  ] .  

 

The Frustration

Well Once the Delivery to My House Of the Same Was Made Many Many Days Before ,My Problems Started .If they Were running the engine at High speed the engine was Badly Vibrating .If They Lowered The Speed RPM the Alternator Was not Delivering Proper Voltage Just 87 volts and In My country We Have 230 Volts  .This Was Due to The Fact That The Fool Called Mr Amrik Singh did not Have The Sense In Selecting a Pulley that Would Create Proper RPM At the Alternator .Time And again He was sending his engineers .Initially the Pulley was Just 6 Inches At the side Of the Engine and Slowly It was Increased To 8 Inches and After Many Many Days It Was At 10 Inches .The Alternator Had a Transformer with Tappings To Increase the voltage Output Or decrease The Same .As Of 25-5-2010 This Generator Is running with 10 Inches Pulley Drive At engine end With Twin Belt system .Well The Second Issue with the engine Was the Amount Of Leakage It was Having and the Leakage was All Over and Once It was On The Flywheels It Was Being thrown all Around My Backyard DAMN .The Only thing they did Was That They Came and tightened The Nuts .Those Jerks did Not even Know that The Seals Needed Replacement As He Made a Fool Out Of Me Saying He Redid the entire Engine When the Only thing They did Was That They Worked On The Piston Section And Replaced the Rings .Bare enough To start This engine  .My third Issue Was that the engine Governer Was Not OK The Governer Had worn Out And The engine Never Could Regulate the Speed ,Sometimes It was Fast and sometimes it was Slow . They Promised Me a good Silencer But Gave Me a Useless Very Stupid One .I Gave Up On this and Told them To Replace The Same ,They Agreed for The Same After Many Months In May 2010 and He Still Wanted To Buy a Old Petter Type Water Cooled Unit And Replace this  [ Some People think All customers are Morons ] .The Radiator He Had Given Me was Removed From The Generator Due To It excessive shaking And Finally Leaking .The Water Pump He Had Installed Was Also a Old One And rusted .The Same Was Painted Before Delivery Lol .Read the Story Next - >  The Tickle
